What Is an IID?
You will most likely be required to install an ignition interlock device (IID) in your vehicle if you were convicted of a DUI. An Intoxalock is a state-of-the-art IID that integrates a fuel cell-based breathalyzer with your vehicle’s ignition system. When a breath sample is submitted, Intoxalock tests the sample for the presence of alcohol.
How It Works
Using a fuel cell technology developed by Intoxalock for the IID industry, the device will display the breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) of the sample on the LED screen. If the BrAC is below the legal standard for your state, the vehicle will start. If a violation is detected, the vehicle will not start until a safe sample has been provided.
